The Midget AA team has been the number 1 team (Midget AA division) in the Bluenose League all season long. On Monday night they capped it off by defeating the Truro Bearcats 11-10 to take the gold medal in the league finals. The team was down early but showed their ability to focus and come back for the victory. The Cards earned their way to the finals by dumping the Hammond Plains A`s 14-4 in five innings of ball the previous Saturday morning. Congratulations boys and best of luck in Atlantics during the upcoming weekend!

Over the coming weeks you will notice ongoing work at the batting cage area. HRM will be preparing the land beside the cage (where the storage container used to be) and covering the area with crushed gravel. During this time a 10 foot fence will be constructed; beginning at the far end of the cage (the end closest to the skate park) and extending 30 feet over to the waterway. The fence will then turn back towards the walkway and run parallel with the water at a 4 foot level for 80 feet. This will allow us to create a space large enough to construct 3 pitching mounds. These mounds will be used for development programs, team practices and warm up areas for games.
During the time of the construction CHMBA would ask all coaches to be mindful of safety when using the batting cage. It is hopeful that the construction will be complete over the next several weeks. When the area is complete, teams will be able to book the cage and pitching area for practice times. This construction is made possible through field improvement funds provided by HRM and is one of several projects aimed to provide increased field usage for the kids who play baseball.
